Fossil Display at Wheeler Memorial Library

Starting October 4, 2006 Wheeler Memorial Library is hosting a display of fossils from Nova Scotia. The 300 million year old plant fossils were collected by Bob Michaud and Dianne Salcedo on a recent vacation. The fossils are the carboniferous (coal) remains of ancient ferns and other plants. One unusual item on display is an actual fern seed preserved in the rock. Bob found the seed at the Joggins fossil cliffs. The cliffs may soon be declared a World Heritage Site.
